It’s a Perth thing. For generations the bright young things from Perth have been going to the races on new years day. The rockstars amongst us sun ourselves in luxury, sipping cool beer and cheap wine. And we do all this, usually without seeing a horse, in a dodgy Tentland marquee listening to some wide-eyed DJ play the latest pop and dance tracks
Homer Simpson said it, in fact he bought the bumper sticker - disco sucks! Well baby let me tell ya – rock and roll is back and now you’ve got a real alternative in Tentland on new years day.
The Rockin’ Horse is Perth Cup's newest venue - a rock venue in the truest sense, real music, lots of red velvet, dark and cool, shit we’d fill it with smoke and make the floors sticky if they’d let us.
If you’re up to joining 35,000 other fun loving punters in one of the louder more exclusive trackside marquees and love, Bon, Jimmy, Janis, Iggy, Kurt or Michael. Then this is definitely the tent for you.
Dazed and Confused?
Well its on new years day – what do you expect? Over the last few years Tentland has been through a huge amount of change – a bit like going through puberty really – but now after a couple of really good years the event has again got its shit together and its for this reason that we’re launching The Rockin’ Horse.
One thing’s for certain, the days of rip-off tents and pissed footy players are over.
Tentland 2009
Tentland 2009 will feature just a handful of venues– all offering something a bit different - but none with the testicles to do it as loud or proud as The Rockin’ Horse.
The new Tentland has strictly limited capacity (about 60% of what it used to be) to ensure that those lucky enough to secure a ticket can enjoy a day at the races in style and comfort. Perth Racing (the people who run the race track) have worked hard to bring the event up to scratch and after a couple of good years, we can be confident in delivering a premium quality day at the races in old fashioned rock and roll style.
